Brothers and Sisters: First off let me say thank you to all of you who voted for me to lead our local for the next 2 years. I will do my absolute best to ensure that our members are treated fairly and that they are safe. I have said before that there is strength in numbers and we must remain strong and united to accomplish the goals I would like to see us achieve. I would like to see our membership grow, so I encourage every member to talk with the new hires and your fellow crewmembers about the local and what it has to offer. The union to me is like insurance; you may not really understand the full benefits of it until you have to use it. Then you sure are glad you have it. Let us also remember that this is OUR union, every member has the same voice and voting power. I would also like to encourage the membership to attend our monthly meetings. We have moved the meeting to 9:00am on the first Thursday of every month and it seems that this time works better than trying to get to the union hall at 5:00pm during rush hour traffic. We are trying to plan a party to celebrate the success of the tornado case so be sure to watch for upcoming fire faxes. We are also trying to plan for more workdays at the union hall to improve the looks both inside and out. I'm sure most of you who visit this site also check out the Debate Page. As I'm sure you know, our organization has been taking a lot of heat from people on that site. I will not get into an argument over union business with someone who won't even sign their name to their comments. If you have a question, comment, concern, or argument you can call or e-mail any one of the E-board members, or come to see me. In closing let me say that this local is
strong and we continue to get stronger with more new members joining every week.
It was a long battle for the money we received from the Dunwoody Tornado case,
but it proves that we will fight and not waiver in our efforts to make sure that
we are treated fairly. It also proves that we will not back down when we feel we
are in the right. Fraternally, Joe
